History & Background

The Roanoke Regional Partnership is the regional economic development organization representing the counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Franklin and Roanoke; cities of Covington, Roanoke, and Salem; and the town of Vinton.  Founded in 1983, the Partnership is a joint venture between the seven governments and more than 200 private sector businesses that want to help this region grow.

The Partnership’s program of work includes business attraction, retention and expansion, market intelligence, asset development, and image building. More than $1 billion has been invested in facilities and equipment with the Partnership’s help and more than 14,000 primary jobs have been created along with 13,000 secondary jobs. The Partnership assisted with projects such as Ardagh Packaging, Arkay Packaging, Altec Industries, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits, Deschutes Brewery, Dynax America, Eldor Corporation, Integrity Windows, McAirlaids, Metalsa, Orvis, LSC Communications, Metalsa, Virginia Forge, and Maple Leaf Bakery.
