Botetourt Company Technology Company Awarded Commercialization Grant

Micro Harmonics Corporation, a Fincastle, Virginia-based manufacturer of millimeter wave isolators and millimeter wave circulators operating from 25 GHz over 400 GHz, is one of 26 small technology-based businesses awarded a grant from Virginia’s Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund to support commercialization of their research. 

Governor Ralph Northam announced on June 17, 2020, that the overall funding of $2.8 million will support emerging technology in clean energy, cybersecurity, data analytics, life sciences, and unmanned systems.  Micro Harmonics received $75,000 from the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Matching Funds Programs for its work in the unmanned systems sector.

“These entrepreneurs and innovators are on the front lines of bringing new products and technologies to market, while driving job creation and supporting Virginia’s economic recovery efforts,” said Governor Northam.

Founded in 2008 as a specialized research and design consultancy for microwave, millimeter wave, and sub-millimeter-wave components, Micro Harmonics is dedicated to quality components and custom solutions. Components are designed from the ground up using modern sophisticated electromagnetic simulation tools to achieve the industry’s widest bandwidth and lowest insertion loss in a more compact size, according to the Micro Harmonics website.

Micro Harmonics was founded by CEO, David Porterfield.
