History and Background

The Roanoke Regional Partnership is the regional economic development organization representing the counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Franklin and Roanoke; cities of Covington, Roanoke, and Salem; and the town of Vinton. Founded in 1983, the Partnership is a joint venture between the eight governments and more than 200 private sector businesses that want to help this region grow.

The Partnership’s program of work includes business attraction, retention and expansion, market intelligence, asset development, and image building. More than $2.4 billion has been invested with the Partnership’s help and more than 20,000 jobs have been created. The Partnership assisted with projects such as Stik Pak, Traditional Medicinals, Mack Trucks, Munters Group AB, Balchem, Cardinal Glass, Bimbo Bakeries, Constellation Brands, Ardagh Packaging, Arkay Packaging, Altec Industries, Dynax America, Eldor Corporation, Integrity Windows, McAirlaids, Metalsa, Orvis, Virginia Forge, and Maple Leaf Bakery.

The Partnership created Roanoke Outside to showcase why the Roanoke Region is one of the best outdoor communities in the United States. Roanoke Outside creates economic growth by leveraging natural assets to attract investment and talent.
