Edelmann Technology Locates North American Headquarters in Franklin County

Edelmann is global leader in the manufacturing of equipment for the non-woven materials industry

Franklin County, Va. (January 28, 2015) – Edelmann Technology, LP (www.edelmann-technology.com), a global leader in equipment for the non-woven materials industry, announced today that it will locate its North American headquarters to Franklin County, Virginia.  Edelmann Technology is based in Germany and the new office will be its first outside of Europe.  The company manufactures and services equipment used by producers to make a variety of nonwoven materials.  Nonwovens are flat, porous sheets made from fibers that are bonded mechanically, thermally, or chemically.  Everyday examples are wipes and absorbent products.  Edelmann expects to be in operation in Rocky Mount by the end of February.

“Franklin County and Rocky Mount is a perfect location for our service and after-sales operation that will serve our current and future customers in the US, Canada and Latin America,” said Jesus Lopez Marin, Managing Director of Edelmann Technology.  He added that “Franklin County’s strong workforce and proximity to regional assets like Virginia Tech will allow us to recruit highly-qualified and motivated staff.”

Over the next several months, the company will be hiring software specialists, electricians and industrial equipment maintenance staff.  The company plans to hire five to ten new employees.  Employees that are hired initially will have the opportunity to advance over time as the company and number of employees grows.   Edelmann has entered into a lease agreement with the Franklin County Board of Supervisors to move into a County-owned building in Downtown Rocky Mount.

“Edelmann Technology is a fast-growing business and market leader,” said Cline Brubaker, Chairman of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors.  “It is the kind of state-of-the-art company we seek to attract to Franklin County and our community is pleased to welcome another outstanding international business to the County.”  Edelmann considered potential locations in other Virginia counties and neighboring states before selecting Franklin County, according to company officials.

“When selling companies on this region, the Roanoke Regional Partnership is able to point to an impressive number of international companies with facilities in the region,” said Beth Doughty, executive director of the Roanoke Regional Partnership, the region’s economic development marketing organization. “We can send the message that the region is welcoming and a great environment for international business.”

“The Town of Rocky Mount is pleased to welcome the North American headquarters of Edelmann, and thankful that another international corporation has recognized the value of our community’s quality of life,” said Rocky Mount Mayor Steve Angle. “With the Harvester Performance Center, our parks and recreation amenities and safe neighborhoods, we are confident that Edelmann will be part of a long line of companies who choose Rocky Mount and Franklin County.”

Edelmann Technology was assisted by the Franklin County Office of Economic Development, the Roanoke Regional Partnership and the Town of Rocky Mount.
