ELDOR Facility in Botetourt County Taking Shape
Construction on the ELDOR Corporation site in the Roanoke Region of Virginia is under way. The Italian manufacturer of automotive components is on track to have a state of-the-art 250,000 sq. ft. facility ready for test runs by January.
ELDOR released a rendering of the facility that shows just how the landscape at the Botetourt Center at Greenfield is changing with the expansion.
The company has hired a group of supervisors, and plans to create 350 jobs over the next five years. The project is ELDOR’s first North American production operation, and represents a $75 million investment.
“Dream, Passion and Technology: this is ELDOR and we trust that Virginia and the Botetourt County are the best options to carry on, with determination, our dream,” said of Pasquale Forte, ELDOR Corporation president and CEO.
Headquartered in Orsenigo, Como, Italy, ELDOR is the industry leader in the research, development and production of ignition coils, engine control units and combustion management systems as well as electric systems for hybrid and electric applications. The company has three research and development operations in Italy, production plants in Italy, Turkey, China and Brazil, and technical offices in Detroit, China and Germany. ELDOR customers include most of the world’s automotive manufacturers and contracts to supply customers in the U.S. prompted the need for a U.S. manufacturing operation.
Roanoke Regional Partnership staff worked with ELDOR executives for nine months as they evaluated more than 160 sites in six states. The Partnership staff connected the company with the resources that would make this project work here, such as Botetourt’s pre-graded site, Virginia Tech, the mechatronics program at Virginia Western Community College, and business services.
