Job Opening: Talent Strategies & Digital Marketing Program Manager 

 
The Roanoke Regional Partnership is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader with a passion for digital marketing and event management to spearhead its talent attraction initiatives, including managing the Get2KnowNoke brand. Get2KnowNoke is the Partnership’s talent attraction initiative focused on showcasing the Roanoke region as a desirable place to live, work, and thrive. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing digital and social media marketing strategies alongside organizing brand-building events and a promotional event calendar that highlight the region’s lifestyle benefits, employers, and career opportunities. 

The Roanoke Regional Partnership has established the region as an active, outdoor destination through the Roanoke Outside Foundation. This position will leverage and expand upon the region’s brand identity through digital platforms and events to tell that story and attract top talent. 

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial, self-motivated individual who enjoys team collaboration and big-picture strategy with expertise in digital marketing, content creation, and event production. They will create and execute targeted campaigns, manage social media and web content, organize events, and build relationships with key stakeholders to position the Roanoke region as a premier location for professionals and businesses. 

Reports To: Director of Business Investment 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent real-world experience in digital marketing, content creation, event production, talent attraction, or economic development will be considered. 

Position Summary: 

This full-time role focuses on both digital marketing and the production of high-profile events that engage the community and attract talent to the Roanoke region. The candidate must have extensive experience in digital content creation, marketing campaigns, community building, and event management, with a track record of success in using digital platforms to generate engagement and highlight the region’s career opportunities and lifestyle benefits. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Digital Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing strategy that includes email campaigns, social media management, SEO optimization, and targeted digital ads to attract and retain top talent. 
  • Social Media Marketing & Content Creation: Plan, create, and manage content for Get2KnowNoke digital platforms (website, blog, social media) that highlights career opportunities, regional lifestyle benefits, and upcoming events. Position has support from our team’s content developer. 
  • Event Production & Promotion: Plan, organize, and promote key events such as the Experience Conference, Onboard|ROA, Talent Summit, and quarterly Roanoke Regional Professional Network (RRPN) gatherings to engage talent and promote the region. Create an event calendar to promote regional opportunity on college campuses, veterans events, and other target audiences. 
  • Brand Management: Ensure the Get2KnowNoke brand is represented consistently across all digital and event channels. Regularly update the website and digital platforms with fresh content that reflects the region’s dynamic offerings. Publish a bi-monthly newsletter to promote website content, provide regional thought leadership, and upcoming events. 
  • Campaign Development: Develop marketing campaigns that target specific talent pools, such as remote workers, college graduates, veterans, boomerangs, and skilled professionals, using digital tools, social media, and influencer collaborations. 
  • Partnership Management: Build and manage relationships with academic institutions, local employers, localities, and regional organizations to promote digital and event-driven talent attraction initiatives. 
  • Data & Analytics: Use data analytics tools to track the success of digital marketing and event campaigns, providing regular reports and adjusting strategies as needed to maximize impact. 
  • Talent Ambassadors: Manage and activate a network of local talent ambassadors to promote the region’s talent initiatives through social media, testimonials, and event participation. 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with local employers and stakeholders to identify talent needs and co-create event-based or digital solutions to address regional workforce gaps. Research and compile employer, relocation, and job seeker resources on Get2KnowNoke.com/resources/    

Required Skills: 

  • Proven experience in digital marketing, including social media management, content creation, email marketing, and SEO. 
  • Event production experience, with a proven ability to organize, promote, and execute both in-person and virtual events. 
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, WordPress, email marketing platforms, and graphic design software (such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite). 
  • Expertise in developing marketing strategies that align with talent attraction and economic development goals, or any outcome that’s not sales driven. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to network and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and adjust marketing and event initiatives accordingly. 
  • Aptitude to research and understand the landscape of talent attraction and retention, workforce development, community development, and economic development. 
  • Creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Salary DOE, starting at $60,000 
  • Flexible in-office work schedule with up to 8 hours of remote work per week.
