Less than four percent of the Roanoke Region’s school-aged children attend private or parochial schools. A variety of schools provide alternatives to the region’s public school systems.

The Roanoke Region offers several options for alternative education to suit children’s needs. Unique learning experiences at schools throughout the Roanoke Region allow students to develop individual talents and interests. Programs include computer science; high technology; science; mathematics and computers; aviation; performing arts; visual arts; communications; engineering and aerospace.
