Roanoke County Named Top Digital School System in Nation

digital school boards awardRoanoke County Public Schools was named the top digital school system for the second year in a row by the Center for Digital Education and National School Board Association 10th annual Digital School Districts Survey.  Roanoke County was recognized as a first-place winner and the survey recognized Roanoke County Public Schools for its student laptop initiative which grants students access to industry-standard software for use in opportunities including internships with fast-growing companies.  The use of dual-enrollment offerings allow students to achieve associate degrees from community colleges at the same time they are earning their diploma.  Meanwhile in the classroom, teachers utilizes dashboards and real-time student assessment data to determine the success of content and instructional delivery.  And students are learning to use advanced technologies including drones equipped with HD cameras, robotics, blueprint design tools, and 3D printers.
