Roanoke Named One of Best Mid-Sized American City to Visit
Roanoke is a great place to live, work, and play, but with an abundance of amazing outdoor amenities, breweries, wineries, and fine art, Roanoke is also a great place to visit.
That’s the message sent by the latest top 10 list Roanoke landed on this week. The World Property Journal placed Roanoke on its Top 10 Mid-Sized Cities to Visit listing. Roanoke was ranked #6. World Property Journal is a worldwide real estate news and information company that publishes on real estate market news and trends.
This ranking should come as no surprise to anyone who lives in Roanoke or has visited recently. Tourism made a economic impact of over $750 million in 2013, an increase of 3 percent over 2012.
The posts’ author, Steve Winston, had this to say about the Star City:
“Roanoke is only minutes from mountains and meadows. It sits near the Blue Ridge Parkway, considered by many to be America’s most beautiful road. Downtown has beautifully-preserved buildings in the Southern-Classic style. There’s also a growing foodie scene here, with a surprising variety of ethnic restaurants. The Center in the Square holds a number of performing arts theaters and museums, and the Taubman Museum of Art is an architecturally-striking building with a notable collection of American art. Historic Grandin Village has old-time shops and restaurants. And outside downtown are the Chateau Morrisette Winery, the historic Old Mabry Mill, and the Roanoke Star, an enormous structure overlooking the city from Mill Mountain.”
Roanoke was ranked ahead of Savannah, GA, Portland, OR, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Spokane, WA.
