The Roanoke Region’s Got Talent
The Roanoke Region is making headlines for its livability draw.
The Penny Hoarder ranked Roanoke as one of “25 Cities that Millennials Can Afford and Actually Want to Live In.” Coming in at No. 12, the region was noted for being affordable, helping millennials find happiness, and having a healthy economic ranking.
“The Roanoke Valley Greenways combines two things millennials care about when considering a new city: the outdoors and walkability. Roanoke also has a wealth of parks: Explore Park, Mill Mountain Park and trails along Roanoke Mountain. You don’t even need your own bike.”
Fourth Economy Consulting ranked Roanoke County among the top mid-sized communities in its Fourth Economy Community Index. The index highlights counties that understand the balance of factors it takes to retain and attract talent, support business growth, and create the environment for a vibrant place.
Roanoke County was recognized for short commute times, strong average wages, a healthy talent base, a strong health system, outdoor recreation, and for placemaking efforts that make Roanoke County and the region a great place to live and work.
It’s no surprise that the Roanoke Region earns high marks for talent and livability. The Roanoke Region of Virginia is a budding hot-spot for a variety of businesses, is emerging as a craft beer hub on the East Coast with a natural, mountain backdrop that can’t be beat. Plus, the region is home to budding talent with more than 100,000 college students at 25 colleges and low costs of living and doing business.
