Touchdown! Join Twitter for Plenty of Stagg Bowl Chatter
Welcome Clark Ruhland to Get2KnowNoke this week. Clark is no stranger to media of all kinds as the communications specialist for the City of Salem, where he does everything from work on the website, take photos, and graphic design.
Clark is a Roanoke Region native as well. He graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in 2003 and Virginia Tech in 2007. When he’s not here in Roanoke, you’ll likely find him at a Virginia Tech football or basketball game, or NASCAR race working for NBC Sports.
This week he’ll bring some of that sports knowledge to @Get2KnowNoke as the NCAA Division III Stagg Bowl comes to town. This is the 23rd year that Salem has hosted the football national championship. (It’s on Dec. 18.)
“It’s cool to see a national title awarded to a school here in our own backyard on national television,” Clark says.
Tweeting from his personal account, @Hokie20, Clark is an avid sports fan – everything from the Hokies to NASCAR – and posted more than 26,400 tweets since 2009. Here’s his bio: @SalemVA Communications Specialist. @VTPromos Graphic Designer. @NASCARonNBC Spotter. @Virginia_Tech Class of ’07. Tend to tweet about racing & sports.
Here are a couple more facts about Clark.
- What he likes about social media: “Social media is a great connection tool. It’s a way to share talents and thoughts with people you wouldn’t otherwise meet. I’ve made many friends both near and far because of Twitter. My car’s license plate is even my Twitter handle.”
- Favorite Roanoke Region places: “It’s hard to beat hanging out at Mac & Bob’s. I always see somebody I know in there and the food is on point. The giant calzone is my favorite. I also enjoy checking out the local breweries in the area. Parkway, Soaring Ridge, Big Lick, Flying Mouse – They’re all unique and good places to take it easy and be with friends.”
If you are on Twitter, give @Hokie20 a follow and make sure to join the conversation with him this week on @Get2KnowNoke.
