2018: 140+ New Connections
The pipeline between college students and regional businesses got bigger in 2018 as the Roanoke Regional Partnership’s talent attraction program organized events to connect business leaders, college career professionals, and students.
One such event brought college career professionals from across Virginia to Roanoke for the first time to engage with the business community. Another event took businesses to Virginia Tech for face-to-face interaction with engineering students. All while, the Partnership participated in career events at colleges and universities.
A Go Virginia grant was awarded to develop new strategies to increase the retention of college graduates.
Launched in 2018, the Partnership has a comprehensive talent attraction and retention program that is building a pipeline between college students and regional business, supporting summer internship programs, creating networking and professional events, and selling the Roanoke region to talent that will fuel business growth.
